The competition video submissions (entries) are accepted from 8 October — 2 November 2015 (23h59 South Africa Standard Time). Only videos submitted in this period will be eligible to go into the top 10 and then the final 3. If a video is submitted on or after 8 October 2015 and has already accumulated views before this date, this will be taken into consideration. All videos must be preferably 30 seconds long, but will be considered too if longer than the preferred time, but shorter than 2 minutes. The higher the number of views, the better the chances of being selected, but this is not the only contributing factor as other social media statistics are also taken into consideration. Entrants must be over 18 years of age.
The top 10 finalists will be announced on 6 November and thereafter, the top 3 will be announced by 8 November 2015 (latest).
The top 3 finalists will travel to Mauritius from 12 — 16 November 2015.
All finalists need to have valid passports. South African passport holders do not require visas to enter Mauritius, but finalists with other passports will need to make sure that they have the valid visas and other documentation to enter Mauritius. This is the responsibility of the finalist. You can enter if you don’t have a passport, but need to ensure that you have the necessary travel documents when we travel in November 2015. If not, we reserve the right to choose another finalist in your place.
Each finalist is responsible for making the appropriate arrangements with their employees, educational institution, etc. to be able to be available to travel to Mauritius from 12 — 16 November 2015.
Jo-Ann Strauss Productions (Pty) Ltd, Samsung or its partners are not “employing” the winner and neither are they offering paid employment.
The top 3 finalists will be required to submit photographs and videos daily from Mauritius and will be given clear instructions on the content requirements. An IT expert will be available to help finalists on the island to upload the content, but finalists are responsible for creating the content. Finalists are required to use social media on the island to share their experiences.
We reserve the right to change the intended competition dates and travel dates if the need arises.
We retain ownership of the travel inserts filmed as well as all content submitted by the finalists in the competition period on the island and have the right to edit it and use it on our website (or our partners’ websites).
By entering your YouTube video, you grant that we may use your video on our site/s and that of our partners and that we have the exclusive right to publish, share, reproduce, distribute or incorporate it in other works in any form, media or technology now known or hereafter developed, without any compensation, restrictions of use, acknowledgement of source, accountability or liability.
We do not have any obligation to review or upload any content you submit. We are also not in any manner responsible for any such content that you submit and any submissions where are racist, offensive, defamatory or illegal will be reported to the relevant authorities.
The competition is open to South Africans and African entries. All finalists will be flown from Johannesburg to Mauritius on the 12th of November and land back in JHB on the 16th of November 2015. Finalists from Cape Town or Durban will be given connecting flights from their respective cities. If a finalist comes from any other city/ surrounding areas, it is their own responsibility to travel to either Cape Town, Durban or Johannesburg to be able to fly and these travels to the 3 major airports are for the finalist’s expense. If they need financial assistance to do so, they can contact Jo-Ann Strauss Productions (Pty) Ltd to discuss, but this is not a guarantee that costs will be covered.
If any finalist misses his or her flight, they are responsible for the costs of changing their flights or the costs of making alternative travel arrangements.
Jo-Ann Strauss, taking into consideration the number of views and various other factors, will choose the winner. Jo-Ann’s decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
Jo-Ann Strauss Productions (Pty) Ltd shall have the right to terminate the competition without notice of such termination. In such an event, all participants hereby waive any rights that they may have against the competition and it’s organizers and hereby acknowledge that they will have no recourse of claim of any nature whatsoever against the organizers, associated parties and its sponsors.
All finalists will receive Samsung devices on the island, which they must use to record their experiences and share on social media platforms. Samsung will provide some devices which finalists are able to keep. Details of devices will be shared in November 2015 on the island.
All finalists will be flown to Mauritius and will be accommodated in luxury accommodation for 4 nights. All meals and selected beverages will be provided. Any extras are for each finalist’s own account and no mini-bar/ telephone costs, etc. will be paid for by Jo-Ann Strauss Productions (Pty) Ltd or Samsung or their partners/ subsidiaries.
